First Take- Furious 7- For Paul.

SYPNOSIS:

Deckard Shaw seeks revenge against Dominic Toretto and his family for his comatose brother.

And now here we are, almost up to date with the films. 2015′s smash hit had a lot of expectations, especially with the untimely death of Paul Walker- and my expectations were surpassed easily.

James Wan has made a film that not only sets the future of the franchise up, but also pays tribute to Walker in a way only he would approve of- a heartfelt and touching entry into the franchise that made him a star. The pacing is damn near perfect, and Chris Morgan’s script is among the finest this franchise has seen, and combined with some brilliant cinematography from Stephen F. Windon and Marc Spicer, along with a brilliant score from Brian Tyler, the film does what it needs to do to strike emotions within the die hard fans.

The cast are just as solid, with Vin Diesel on fire as usual, and the rest of the cast make you really believe that this is a family. Of course, I just have to talk about Jason Statham, as he injects a very unique nature into the film’s villain Deckard that only he can deliver. The supporting cast are great too, and as a whole, this is a film that will cement this franchise’s legacy.

THE VERDICT

Legacies in cinema are defined by films like this, and with some brilliant talent both in front of and behind the camera, Furious 7 is a fitting end to a story that has stretched nearly 16 years.
