First Take: The Legend of Tarzan- I’m not angry...
SYPNOSIS: Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment.
This film had a lot of potential. The trailers looked really good, but unfortunately the full 1 hour 50 minute film itself is terrible.
It all comes down to the script, as it’s written in a way that doesn’t allow a cast as good as the one we have here to show their full talents like they usually do. The pacing is all over the shop, and considering that this is the director of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows we are talking about, this isn’t a good thing, and also, there is way too much CG in this film. However, there are some redeeming factors, as Margot Robbie and Christoph Waltz literally steal the show. Both of them put in the most believable performances in the entire film, and as a result of this, I think that this is why the film has been so successful on its opening week here in the UK. I am also very critical of the 12a certificate that the film has been given, as this is a very dark film that might be too intense for some audiences. In a nutshell, don’t waste your money on this film.
THE VERDICT
This was slated to be a summer blockbuster, but it just disappointed. It’s on a par with Warcraft and Batman v Superman’s issues, and I just absolutely hated it. If they make a sequel, well, let’s put it this way: I won’t be reviewing it. It was that bad.
RATING: 1/5
