First Take: Money Monster- here comes the money
SYPNOSIS:
Financial TV host Lee Gates and his producer Patty are put in an extreme situation when an irate investor takes over their studio.
Money Monster is a very unique film, as it satirises the financial news industry while also making a very grounded, realistic thriller that beds itself in a 2016 setting. Jodie Foster’s direction is near faultless, with the script from Jamie Linden and Alan DiFiore hitting all the right notes. The performances from George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O’Connell are also very good, with a combination of great cinematography and a very basic but effective score adding to a film that already makes Nightcrawler look tame in terms of its content. As a whole, Money Monster is a film that delivers everything you expect from a TV-based thriller, while also delivering one of the biggest narrative twists in such a clever and subtle way- and for that, this film nails every requirement for Film of the Year at this point in time.
RATING- 5/5
