First Take: Eddie The Eagle- I believe I can fly

SYPNOSIS: The story of Eddie Edwards, the notoriously tenacious British underdog ski jumper who charmed the world at the 1988 Winter Olympics.

The eagle has indeed landed with this very unique and charming film- something that I am already considering as one of the greatest British films of all time. It is directed with ease by Dexter Fletcher, working closely with producer Matthew Vaughn to create a very realistic depiction of the 1980′s era that drives the inspiration of the film. The script is very funny, and the performances of Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman are absolutely superb. Matthew Margeson’s synth-based score adds to this already sublime presentation of the story, and George Richmond’s cinematography provides the same flair as it did with his work on Kingsman: The Secret Service. Vaughn is on an unbeaten streak at the minute, and this film cements him as a producer who has some damn good taste in cinematic entertainment.
