First Take: Behind The Candelabra- too much of a good thing is wonderful

Plot in simpler terms- Steven Soderbergh’s take on the tale of Scott Thorson, the man who had a secret relationship with Liberace for 6 years

So, this is a very weird film. It’s directed and shot very well, with Michael Douglas playing a character who is so unlike himself. The story is toild well, but there is a sense of exaggeration, particularly in the more raunchy scenes, but apart from that, Soderbergh nails it yet again. Music from Marvin Hamlisch could have been a little more evident in the finished product, but like I say, this is a Soderbergh film.

Smit Rating- 4/5
