First Take: Spy- Feig has done it yet again

Plot in simpler terms- CIA agent who is out of her league in the spy game gets thrown into the world of espionage

It’s fitting that I was introduced to this film before Kingsman earlier this year, as Spy has just become my favourite film of 2015. Paul Feig has written an incredibly funny script that passed the 6 laugh test easily, and as usual his direction is on point. It’s shot very well, and Theodore Shapiro’s music has elements of Bond with a Hans Zimmer flavour to some sections. But the performances made this film what it is, and the whole cast are superb. Jason Statham nails comedy, Rose Byrne plays a very good villain, Miranda Hart is just playing herself as usual, Jude Law is the perfect mix of seriousness and Melissa McCarthy is just, well, solidifying her stance as Hollywood’s go-to actress for comedy. Brilliant and very funny, Spy is a must-see for this summer.

6 LAUGH TEST- 6/6

SMIT RATING- 5/5
