First Take: Get Santa- Jim Broadbent as Santa? What is going on...

Plot in simpler terms- Santa gets arrested on Christmas Eve, so the world relies on an ex-convict and his son to save the day

I was not expecting much from Get Santa, but Christopher Smith has directed a Christmas film that lacked the cheesiness that films before it were flavoured in. The performances from Rafe Spall and especially Jim Broadbent as a very believable Santa were very good, with the addition of newcomer Kit Hall as Tom proving to be a success. The film as a whole is very funny and passes the industry standard 6 laughs test, and perfects the British Christmas formula. Brilliant for all ages, and probably the best Christmas film of the last 10 years.
