First Take: The Maze Runner- ANOTHER TEEN BOOK ADAPTATION?

Plot in simpler terms- Based on the book of the same name, basically Lord of the Flies with less killing and more mazes

This is the biggest understatement of 2014. Maze Runner didn’t really live up to the hype that Fox had made it out to be, but what it lacked in quality it made up for in direction. Wes Ball, a newcomer to feature films, has shown a very promising start to his cinema career, but this adaptation didn’t make me want to watch the rest of the series (the second book has literally just entered pre-production). However, Will Poulter (who won the Rising Star award at this year’s Baftas) puts in yet another solid perfomance here. See this ONLY if you’ve read the original book. If you’ve not, prepare to be confused.
