First Take: The Meaning of Life- Part VIII- The Smit Review

Plot in simpler terms- The Monty Python boys discuss exactly what is the meaning of life in a series of their groundbreaking sketches.

After reviewing July’s Live (Mostly) show I just had to see this film and as usual, I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a lot darker than their other works (hence the 18 rating on its original release in 1983, currently a 15 with today’s guidelines) but it is still a very solid film 31 years later. I particularly enjoyed the prologue shown before the film directed by the American Python Terry Gilliam. His direction style very much suits my mind. But, with classic moments like Every Sperm is Sacred, the Not The Noel Coward Song and probably one of their most famous dittys The Galaxy Song, there’s not much more I can comment on. Just fantastic British humour.
